Professor Qian Chen has been named one of six finalists for the 2026 Blavatnik National Awards for Young Scientists in Physical Sciences and Engineering.

The prestigious awards recognize promising researchers under age 42 in the United States. Chen was selected for her pioneering work in “electron videography,” an approach that enables scientists to observe nanoparticles and proteins in motion at near-atomic and nanometer scales.

Her research is providing new insights into how nanoscale materials form, move, interact, and transform—advancing the development of technologies including catalysts, batteries, drug-delivery systems, sensing technologies, and programmable materials.

Chen will be honored alongside the other finalists at the Blavatnik Awards ceremony on October 6, 2026, at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
