It is our great pleasure to announce that one of the members of our External Advisory Board, Professor Paula Hammond recently received from President Biden the National Medal of Technology and Innovation. She earned this high distinction for groundbreaking research in nanoscale engineering. Paula Hammond pioneered novel materials that have revolutionized how we deliver cancer drugs to cancer patients and how we store solar energy. An inventor and mentor, Paula Hammond also has paved the way for a more diverse, inclusive scientific workforce that taps into the full talents of our nation. Many congratulations to Paula!
Also, Paula Hammond visited the University of Michigan on Thursday, January 30th, for the Biomaterials Award Seminar. She presented a talk, Sticky particles for Health and Healing. This is a great example of a scientific journey that many of us can aspire to.
