Since 1917, AAUW’s International Fellowships have been a catalyst for education, equity, and leadership—investing in women from around the world who are pursuing postgraduate studies or research in the U.S. These fellowships are specifically for women who are non-U.S. citizens or permanent residents and have a strong record of academic excellence and empowering other women and girls.

Recipients commit to applying their expertise, professional skills, and leadership in their home countries, creating a ripple effect of progress that extends far beyond their own careers. In addition to the U.S.-based fellowships, up to five awards are available to Graduate Women International (GWI) members for study in any country other than their own.

Award Details:

  • $20,000 for master’s degree programs

  • $25,000 for doctorate programs

  • Payments made in two equal installments at the start and midpoint of the fellowship term

The AAUW International Fellowships are more than financial support—they are an investment in the power of women to transform their communities and the world.
