E. Sumeyra Turali-Emre is a postdoctoral research fellow in the Kotov Lab, Chemical Engineering. Her research focuses on engineering nanoparticles for biomedical applications, including antibacterial activity and capturing extracellular vesicles for disease biomarkers. In addition to her research commitments, she is deeply committed to advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) in the workplace. She advocates for an inclusive environment that allows individuals to bring their whole selves and be respected, fostering effective work and collaboration. Embracing the potential of BI and BIONIC to unify individuals from diverse academic backgrounds and facilitate collaborative research, she has served multiple roles in BIONIC and organized events to unite students, postdocs, and visiting scholars over the last couple of years.
